More than 160 players will participate in the Viet Nam Open, scheduled to be held at the Lan Anh Tennis Club in HCM City from October 10 to 18.

Speaking at a press conference on September 22, Viet Nam Tennis Federation General Secretary Nguyen Quoc Ky said the tournament would attract some top international tennis professionals such as Marcel Granollers (81st in the ATP rankings) and James Duckworth (96th), and players in the top 300 rankings such as Lee Duck Hee, Daniel Nguyen, Luke Saville and Jimmy Wang.

Two Vietnamese players Ly Hoang Nam (1036th) and Nguyen Hoang Thien have earned wild cards to compete in the event's main round.

The tournament, which is part of the ATP Challenger Tour, will award players a total bonus of US$50,000.

It will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese tennis players to hone their skills with world-class competition. — VNS
