Thailand beat VN in VTV Cup semis

Thailand's U23 will play Liaoning in the final of the International Women's Volleyball Tournament for the VTV Cup in the southern province of Bac Lieu tonight.

Thailand came from behind yesterday to defeat the defending champions Viet Nam 20-25, 30-32, 25-13, 17-25 in the second semi-final match, while Liaoning won 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 over South Korea in the first.

Viet Nam, who received VND110 million (US$5,000) for their four wins in the round robin stage, will play South Korea in the third-place playoff today.

The winner of the tournament will walk away with US$10,000, while the runners-up will receive $7,000 and $5,000, respectively. — VNS
