HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese representative Ly Hoang Nam will play Corentin Moutet of France in the first round of the Australian Open's junior circus, according to a draw held yesterday in Melbourne.
Nam is world junior No. 70, and one of 46 players starting in the main round. His highest achievements have been getting gold medals in the Asian Youth Games and the ITF U18 Grade in 2013. Nam set a record as the youngest national winner at age 15 in 2012.
His rival, Moutet, 15, won a national U12 title in 2011 and U13-14 crown in 2013. The left-handed player is No. 1,259 in the ATP rankings, about 300 spots higher than Nam.
The junior event will be organised from January 24 to 31 at Melbourne Park. — VNS
