HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam continued to perform impressively at the ASEAN Football Federation Futsal Championship, beating the Philippines 11-1 yesterday in Malaysia.

Their second successive win put them in second place in Group B after Thailand, who also beat Laos 11-1.

The Thais have a better goal average. Myanmar are in third place, with Laos and the Philippines coming in the fourth and fifth positions.

During the first 10 minutes of the match, Viet Nam found it tough against the Philippines who were quick to cut them off. Then Phung Trong Luan weaved his way through and scored in the 10th minute.

Four minutes later, Tran Thai Huy scored another goal to give Viet Nam a two-goal lead at half-time.

Viet Nam exploded in the second half, netting nine more goals. Filipino player Robert Omblero Canedo scored a self-goal.

In the last minute, Jovanie Saludares Simpron converted a penalty for the Philippines.

Today, Viet Nam will play Laos, while Thailand will meet Myanmar. — VNS
