Phuoc sets national swimming record

HA NOI (VNS)—HoangQuy Phuoc yesterday pocketed a record in the second day of the National Swimming Championships in Ha Noi.

The Da Nang-born athlete finished the first lap of the men's 400m freestyle relay event with a time of 50.45sec, setting a new national record. The old one was 50.70 set by himself in 2011.

It was even better for the 20-year-old as he and teammates grabbed the gold medal with a total time of 3:34.83.

It was Phuoc's second gold of the day. Earlier he won in the men's 50m butterfly event with a time of 24.90sec.

After two days, HCM City topped the ranking table with seven golds, followed by Da Nang with four and Hai Phong with two.— VNS
