HA NOI (VNS)—The Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF), the country's football governing body, has handed out punishments to the V-League football club Xuan Thanh Sai Gon (XTSG) and its chairman Nguyen Xuan Thuy.
According to the decision, XTSG will be fined VND100 million (US$4,700) and have to play in the Third Division until 2014.
The VFF also fined XTSG's chairman Nguyen Xuan Thuy VND5 million and banned him from being involved in any form of football management for five years.
The decision was announced one week after the club boycotted the national football championship, the V-League 2013, by refusing to play the two remaining rounds to oppose the deduction from the VFF.
