HA NOI (VNS)– Ly Hoang Nam will become the first Vietnamese to compete in the final of an Asian tennis tournament.
Yesterday, he grabbed a berth in the final match of the boys' event at the Asian Youth Games' tennis event in Nanjing, China.
Nam, No 4 seed, defeated Dmitry Popko of Kazakhstan 7-5, 7-6 (3) in the semi-finals.
His rival today is Filipino Mendoza Zosimo, No 2. Zosimo yesterday beat Garvit Batra, of the Independent Olympic Athletes team, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-0.
Nam is ranked 142nd on the world junior table, while Zosimo is No 89. – VNS
