Update: June, 17/2013 - 10:22

HA NOI (VNS)— Former champions Ha Noi T&T fought hard to beat Ninh Binh 1-0 yesterday on home turf during the 12th round of the V-League.

Cristiano Roland shined at the 67th minute of the match to score the only goal.

The goal came after a free kick taken by captain Pham Thanh Luong, who passed the ball to Roland in the box. The Brazilian midfielder made a strong header to the far corner of Ninh Binh's goalie Manh Dung, who failed to make a save.

After the opener Ninh Binh were subject to consecutive threatening attacks. However, the attempts were not strong enough to level the score.

In Dong Nai, the host team suffered a surprise defeat to Thanh Hoa, who made a remarkable comeback to win 2-1.

Dinh Hiep helped Dong Nai go ahead at the 37th minute from a header. Cheikh Abass levelled the score nearly 40 minutes later.

Before play began, spectators were expecting a draw, but the hosts were given a penalty that was converted into their second goal by Nyirenda Victor.

On the same day in Long An, Dong Tam Long An won 1-0 over two-time winners Hoang Anh Gia Lai.

In three early matches on Saturday, defending champions SHB Da Nang were tied 1-1 by Becamex Binh Duong, while Song Lam Nghe An also finished their match against Kien Giang with a draw of 2-2. Hai Phong were trounced 1-4 by Sai Gon Xuan Thanh.

The losing team's coach said there was only one word to describe Hai Phong's performance: ‘disappointing'. — VNS
