Yamaha holds football camp, national tourneys for children

Update: April, 18/2013 - 09:38

The For the Future of Viet Nam Football programme will be kicked off with a football camp in Ha Noi on May 25-26.

The event, sponsored and organised by Yamaha Motor Vietnam, is expected to attract children aged between six and 10 years old to Bach Khoa Stadium to test their skills. Qualifying candidates will take part in a six-week training course which will give them the basic skills of football.

An estimated 150 kids will be selected from the trials, double the number from last year. They will be trained by Japanese coach Masakuni Yamamoto along with famous Vietnamese coaches from early June to mid July.

Yamaha will also organise the National Children's Football Championships in Nghe An and Khanh Hoa, and the annual Yamaha ASEAN Cup for U11 players.

It is expected to attract four teams from ASEAN and one from Japan, with Viet Nam hosting the tournament which is scheduled for October in Hai Phong.

Last year in Malaysia, the Vietnamese team finished fourth out of six.-VNS
