Ha Thanh wins gymnastics silver medal

HA NOI – Nguyen Ha Thanh sealed a silver medal for Viet Nam at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup which finished in La Roche-sur-Yon City, France yesterday (Mar 18).

Thanh, the only Vietnamese representative, pocketed 13,666 points after two attempts in the men's vault.

South Korean Hak Seon-yang, the defending Olympic champion, took the gold medal with 14,500 while Marek Lyzczarz of Poland was third, on 12,766.

After France, Thanh will fly to Cottbus City in Germany for the FIG Challenger Cup on March 22-24.

The two tournaments are warm-up steps for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Belgium in September. – VNS
