Tam wins silver at Asian cycling champs

HA NOI (VNS)– Young cyclist Pham Duc Tam brought home a silver medal in the men's under 23 individual time trial event at the Asian Cycling Championships in New Delhi, India yesterday.

Tam, who competes for Vinh Long Television ADC, defeated strong rivals from Kazakhstan, South Korea, Japan and China to take the silver medal.

He completed the 28.4km stage with a time of 34 minutes and 37 seconds and an average speed of 49.22km per hour.

Kazakhstan's Daniil Fominykh took the gold medal, while Jaeyeon Im of South Korea won bronze.

After the Asian tournament which will last until this Sunday, Viet Nam's cycling team will join the Tour of Thailand in early April. – VNS
