The tournament's organising board said yesterday that the Best Footballer Award was given to midfielder Nguyen Minh Phuong.
The 32-year-old moved to SHB Da Nang two years ago and this is the first time he has won the title. With good technique and skill, he gradually confirmed his position as a central midfielder and was given the captain's armband.
Phuong has bagged the V-League title three times – with Sai Gon Port FC in 2002 and with Dong Tam Long An in 2005 and 2006.
The Dong Nai-born sportsman also contributed to helping Viet Nam earn its first international title by defeating Thailand in the finals of the ASEAN Football Federation's Suzuki Cup in 2008.
Due to the team's championship title and third place in the National Cup, Le Huynh Duc beat tough competition to be crowned Best Coach.
This is the second time he has had the honour. His first win was in 2009 when SHB Da Nang won its maiden V-League title.
The squad was also awarded Most FairPlay Team. Sporting reporters also declared its fan club the Best Club of the season.
Best Scorer award went to Timothy Anjembe of Ha Noi FC with 17 goals.
The prizes will be handed over at a ceremony on October 6. — VNS
