DONG THAP (VNS) — Solar powered water treatment systems were installed to provide drinking water for three schools in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
Donated by Save the Children, an independent organisation for children, the systems are part of a two-year US$568,000 project funded by the HSBC Water Programme.
The chemical-free water treatment systems will provide safe drinking water for 750 children at the Binh Thanh 2, Tan Hue 1 and Tan Hue 2 primary schools.
Scott Solberg, Chairman of HSBC Viet Nam's Corporate Sustainability Committee, said the facilities were expected to transform livelihoods in the community by protecting its youngest and most vulnerable residents. — VNS
