Việt Nam reports 37 new cases of COVID-19

On Friday evening, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported 37 new cases, bringing the total number of positive patients to 546.

On Friday evening, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported 37 new cases, bringing the total number of positive patients to 546.

They include 26 imported cases, three community transmissions in HCM City and eight in central Quảng Nam Province. 

The new cases are:

  • A 57-year-old woman in HCM City's District 10. She had been taking care of her parents at Đà Nẵng Hospital, Hoàn Mỹ Đà Nẵng Hospital and Đà Nẵng Oncology Hospital from July 13-20.
  • A woman, 61, in HCM City's Tân Phú District, who took care of COVID-19 patient No 436 at Đà Nẵng Hospital from July 19-23.
  • A 55-year-old woman from central Quảng Ngãi Province. She was treated at Đà Nẵng Hospital from June 29 to July 22. She was then transferred to Chợ Rẫy Hospital in HCM City on July 22. She has lived at her daughter's house in the city's Thủ Đức District from July 23.
  • Six Vietnamese people who arrived in Việt Nam via Vũng Tàu port on July 28. They are members of a cargo ship transporting gas. They were in Qatar from July 2-5 and in India between July 14-16 before returning Việt Nam. All were put in quarantine upon arrival.
  • Eight cases in central Quảng Nam Province, including six people who are patients or family members of patients at hospitals in Đà Nẵng, one woman who provided private treatment for patient No433 and a 15-year-old boy who is the grandson of patient No433.
  • 20 people relating to the Vietnam Airlines flight VN6 that brought Vietnamese citizens stranded in Equatorial Guinea home on Wednesday.

There have now been 104 cases relating to central Đà Nẵng City since the first community transmission case was reported in the city on July 25.

More than 53,767 people are currently quarantined at health centres or isolated at home. — VNS
