AN GIANG — Border Guards in An Giang on Saturday announced the seizure of five tonnes of refined sugar that was being moved from Cambodia to Việt Nam.

At about 10pm on Saturday, border guards patrolling waterways in Khánh An Commune, An Phú District, discovered a motorboat travelling from Cambodia to the Hậu River in Việt Nam. The border guards spotted people on the vessel carrying bags from the boat to a buildings belonging to a farmer named Trần Văn Xuyến in Thạnh Phú Village.

On searching the store, the border guards saw that the bags did not have trademarks, and contained refined sugar.

None of the suspects admitted to owning the sugar.

The sugar was moved to the Long Bình Border Guards station for further investigation. — VNS
