HCM CITY — The International German School (IGS) in HCM City will be rebuilt and expanded as part of the “Bildungscampus Deutschland” (Educational Campus Germany) project, according to Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City.

The new project is part of the framework of the strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Germany, following the successful implementation and commissioning of the flagship project and premium office building Deutsches Haus in HCM City.

IGS will have a capacity of at least 600 students.

As part of the project, the two countries will build a modern German vocational school centre, where 600 students will learn advanced vocational skills for their future in Việt Nam and Germany, based on the dual vocational training model.

To achieve the greatest possible efficiency through the joint use of common rooms and sports facilities, both institutions will be combined into one campus planned as a new development with multiple buildings.

The total investment for the new project is estimated at 25 million euros (US$28.5 million).

In November 2018, the German Government approved funding of 18 million euros from the federal budget of 2019-2021 for the “Bildungscampus Deutschland” project.

The additional investment capital will be provided from the investors of Deutsches Haus in HCM City. —VNS
