HÀ NỘI — Nearly 1,000 people including about 300 visually-impaired runners set off around Hoàn Kiếm Lake yesterday morning on the “Run With Me-2gether 2018” event.

The event is the third of its kind to be organised in Hà Nội by Việt Nam and Friends – a Vietnamese non-profit organisation advocating improved public awareness on issues about disabled people, especially their access to education.

The event aimed to raise funds for an audio library for the blind and a reading application on smartphones in Việt Nam.

Participants held hands on the 3.4km and 5.1km races around the lake.

US Ambassador to Việt Nam Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Austrian Ambassador to Việt Nam Thomas Schuller-Goetzburg and Norwegian Ambassador to Việt Nam Grete Lochen also took part in the run. — VNS
