$8.2 million to upgrade Y-shaped Bridge in HCM City

HCM CITY — The upgrading and expansion of Y-shaped Bridge linking districts 5 and 8 in HCM City will start at the end of this month with a cost of about VNĐ186 billion (US$8.2 million), according to the city’s Urban Traffic Management Zone No 1.

The 497.4m-long bridge has three 9m-wide branches crossing the Bến Nghé and Tẻ canals.

One branch connects to Nguyễn Biểu Street in District 5, and others to Nguyễn Thị Tần and Hưng Phú streets in District 8.
Three roads leading to the branches will be lengthened to 400 metres, and 
widened to three metres each.

The Urban Traffic Management Zone No.1 also plans to build 0.95m-wide walkways and install water drainage system and traffic signs.

Construction is expected to be completed in the second quarter next year. 

It is one of important traffic construction works in the city to reduce traffic congestion there and surrounding areas. — VNS
