Police arrest two in huge heroin bust

Police in the northern mountainous province of Lào Cai have arrested two suspects and seized 329 bricks of heroin, worth over VNĐ69 billion (US$3 million).

LÀO CAI — Police in the northern mountainous province of Lào Cai have arrested two suspects and seized 329 bricks of heroin, worth over VNĐ69 billion (US$3 million).

The police said the two suspects were arrested while driving their car loaded with the heroin on Friday afternoon in Nậm Pản Village of Mường Khương District.

The two suspects admitted that they were transporting the drugs from the central province of Nghệ An to sell in Lào Cai.

Colonel Đinh Tiến Quân, director of Lào Cai Police Department, said this is the biggest heroin bust they have dealt with. Police are investigating the case.—VNS
