NGHỆ AN — Two persons suspected of forgery were detained by the investigative police in the central province of Nghệ An on Tuesday.

Nguyễn Thị Hương, 62, and her son Trần Đăng Khương, 35, are facing legal proceedings for creating fake seals and forging documents of government agencies, businesses and schools, Thanh Niên (Young People) online newspaper reported.

Some 283 fake seals were confiscated from the suspects’ home in Vinh City, including those of the Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Agency, Nghệ An Public Security Agency and some district police divisions.

The police also confiscated three laptops, two colour scanners, one photocopier and other tools used for forgery.

Hương said she had agreed to forge documents and certificates at VNĐ300,000-800,000 (US$13-35) each.

She was earlier sentenced to two years imprisonment for forgery in 2016, but the sentence was suspended. — VNS
