HÀ NỘI – Minister of Public Security Tô Lâm has issued an urgent notice, requesting heads of general departments, police departments and fire fighting forces of provinces and cities across the country ensure order and security during the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Crimes such as robbery, fraud, theft of property, smuggling, trade fraud, illegal firecracker transport and unlawful arrests to collect debts are on the rise in some localities as Tết approaches, the notice said.

Traffic congestion has been occurring on a large scale, especially in large cities, causing difficulties for people as they prepare for the holiday.

The minister asked police forces and localities to adopt drastic measures to cope with all crimes including trade fraud, smuggling, trading of fake goods and violating food safety regulations.

Local residents’ awareness on crime prevention should be enhanced and violations relating to unlawful arrests to appropriate property should be strictly punished.
