ĐÀ NẴNG — A rescue ship from the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre saved six sailors from a drifiting fishing boat 100km off the coast of Quảng Trị Province yesterday morning.

The fishing boat was towed to safety in the centre’s port in Đà Nẵng at noon yesterday.

The centre said the fishing boat, NĐ92268 TS from northern Nam Định Province, had an engine failure on January 3 and started to drift in the sea off Cửa Việt port in Quảng Trị Province.

For two days, crew members tried to repair the engine, but they were hampered by rough seas.

It was the second fishing boat to be saved from difficulties in the region this week.

On Thursday, a broken down fishing boat with four sailors on board from Quảng Nam Province was rescued off the coast of Đà Nẵng City. — VNS
