HÀ NỘI – Police yesterday found the body of Nguyễn Hồng Lâm, chairman of Hà Nội’s Quốc Oai District People’s Committee, who had been missing since December 26.

The body was found in a house in Alley 279 Hoàng Mai Street, Hoàng Mai District, Hà Nội.

An official from Nghĩa Hương Commune, where Lâm lived, confirmed to Vietnam News Agency the body was that of the missing district head.

According to the Hà Nội criminal police division, at 9pm on December 25, Lâm drove a black Toyota Camry out of the committee’s headquarters. Half an hour later, he parked his car at a parking lot at No 113 on Trần Duy Hưng Street in Cầu Giấy District, which was under the management of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Lâm then walked to Alley 115 on the same street. By 9:55pm, he was moving towards Đền Lừ Lake in Hoàng Mai District, some 13.5 kilometres from the parking lot.

Until the body was detected, Lâm’s family was unable to contact him.

Nguyễn Văn Thọ, the Party Secretary of Quốc Oai District, said Lâm had displayed no abnormal behaviour before his mysterious disappearance. – VNS
