Police make province’s biggest-ever heroin bust

The Điện Biên Police, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Security, on Saturday caught three heroin traffickers and made the province’s largest-ever heroin seizure.

ĐIỆN BIÊN — The Điện Biên Police, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Security, on Saturday caught three heroin traffickers and made the province’s largest-ever heroin seizure.

The seized material included nearly 30kg of heroin and 60,000 tablets of ecstasy weighing 5.5kg.

After a long period of keeping close watch on the traffickers, the provincial police caught the three traffickers at 2.30 am on Saturday in Huổi Lèng Commune, Mường Chà District. They are Lý Chái Thào, 53, Lý A Khoa, 41 and Vàng A Cho, 36, who all live in Na Sang Commune, Mường Chà District.

The three traffickers violently resisted and unsuccessfully attempted to flee.

Later that day, major general Sùng A Hồng, director of the Điện Biên Police, together with the provincial people’s committee, awarded the police working on the case VNĐ70 million ($3,100). — VNS
