A crew member of a squid-catching ship that sank was rescued after more than 20 hours, according to the Bình Định Province Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on Wednesday night.

BÌNH ĐỊNH — A crew member of a squid-catching ship that sank was rescued after more than 20 hours, according to the Bình Định Province Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on Wednesday night.

Nguyễn Văn Dùng from Quảng Ngãi was immediately transferred to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu-based fishing boat numbered BV 70576 TS found the crew member alive 25 nautical miles from the point where the ship sank. Unfortunately, the fishing boat was unable to inform the committee right away for further search and rescue.

On the same day, rescue ship SAR 272 delivered the bodies of captain Ngô Thiên and his brother Ngô Tấn Tiến to to the coast of Vũng Tàu.

Rescue ship SAR 243 is, meanwhile, continuing its search for three crew members -- Nguyễn Tấn Phương, Nguyễn Văn Lân and Văn Năm, according to the Người Lao Động (Labourer) newspaper.
