HCM CITY — The District 2 Hospital in HCM City yesterday inaugurated an eight-storey building with 110 beds that increases its capacity to 560 beds.

The 4,642sq.m building on Lê Văn Thịnh Street cost nearly VNĐ170 billion (US$7.5 million), according to Dr Trần Văn Khanh, the hospital’s head.

A steady increase in demand from locals and people in neighbouring areas meant the hospital was operating at 110 per cent, he said, adding that 593,511 patients were treated in the first nine months of this year.

The hospital has also acquired advanced equipment.

At the inaugural ceremony the hospital signed training agreements with Chợ Rẫy Hospital and University Medical Centre, two of the city’s premier public hospitals, to improve its quality. — VNS
