Market fire kills three in Kiên Giang

A fire broke out in a market in southern Kiên Giang Province’s Đông Thái Commune early Thursday morning, killing three people and burning down four houses nearby.

KIÊN GIANG – A fire broke out in a market in southern Kiên Giang Province’s Đông Thái Commune early Thursday morning, killing three people and burning down four houses nearby.

At 1am this morning, the market caught fire, which quickly spread to surrounding areas.

The commune’s People’s Committee and the provincial Fire Control and Fighting Police Department have sent five fire trucks to the scene.

The fire was stamped out three hours later.

Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Anh Nhịn and leaders of local authorities rushed to the scene to monitor the situation and paid visits to victims’ families.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. – VNS
