Trucks, tipper lorries and lorries with trailers will not be allowed on certain roads in central Đà Nẵng City for the duration of the APEC meetings in November.

ĐÀ NẴNG — Trucks, tipper lorries and lorries with trailers will not be allowed on certain roads in central Đà Nẵng City for the duration of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) meetings in November.

According to the latest traffic plan for the APEC meetings issued by the municipal People’s Committee on Saturday, tipper lorries will be banned from all routes in the city from November 3-12. The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is scheduled on November 6-11 in the city. 

However, they will be allowed to use certain roads on the outskirts of the city, including routes linking Hải Vân tunnel to Túy Loan, some sections of the National Highway 14B, National Highway 1 and the Đà Nẵng-Quảng Ngãi Expressway.

Also under the plan, trucks, lorries with trailers, coaches with over 16 seats, sanitary vehicles, garbage trucks and trucks transporting waste will be banned from 5am to 11pm between November 5 and 12 on a number of roads, including Hoàng Sa, Võ Nguyễn Giáp, Trường Sa and Võ Văn Kiệt, as well as Nguyễn Văn Thoại, Hồ Xuân Hương, Nguyễn Đức Thuận and Minh Mạng, in addition to An Nông and Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa.

The same ban will also be implemented on Bạch Đằng, Trần Phú, 2 tháng 9 and Cách mạng Tháng 8, as well as Hàm Nghi, Lê Đình Lý, Nguyễn Tri Phương and Nguyễn Hữu Thọ, in addition to Trưng Nữ Vương, Nguyễn Văn Linh, Duy Tân and Trần Thị Lý, and some bridges, including Rồng, Trần Thị Lý and Tiên Sơn.

On November 10 and 11, the ban will also be applied to other roads, including Lê Văn Hiến, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Ngô Quyền and Yết Kiêu. It will also be implemented for coaches with a height of over 3.5m.

From November 5 to 12, all vehicles will be banned from parking at Hoàng Sa, Võ Nguyên Giáp, Trường Sa and Võ Văn Kiệt, as well as Nguyễn Văn Thoại, Bạch Đằng, Trần Phú, 2 tháng 9 and Cách mạng tháng 8, in addition to Nguyễn Văn Linh, Duy Tân and Trần Thị Lý.

To ensure safety, Đà Nẵng authorities have decided to temporarily suspend the Rồng (Dragon) bridge over Hàn River from breathing fire and spraying water on November 4, 5, 11 and 12.

Tourism vessels will be temporarily suspended on Hàn river on November 9, 10 and 11.

Director of Đà Nẵng Department of Transport, Lê Văn Trung, said apart from working with relevant agencies to build the traffic plan for APEC, the department has also proposed to local authorities to upgrade infrastructure in the city to better serve the APEC meetings.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is expected to bring together leaders and around 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies. — VNS
