BÌNH ĐỊNH — A collision between a cargo train and a truck occurred on Thursday afternoon at a railway crossing in Canh Thuận Commune, Vân Canh District, Bình Định Province, blocking traffic for hours.

The truck driver managed to escape, jumping out of the truck just in time, but the truck was pushed over 200m before stopping.

Other trains on the route were delayed for almost four hours until the truck was moved from the track and the train involved in the collision was towed to nearby Canh Vinh Station, Colonel Trần Thái Học, head of Vân Canh District Police, said.

Earlier, on Tuesday, at the same site, another train collided with a truck, causing serious injury to the truck driver.

Local officials said there was a warning sign at the railway crossing. The local authority and the residents had asked for a barrier and an automatic warning system several times but had not received a response from relevant agencies. — VNS
