Three mechanics were killed while installing elevator rails at an apartment complex in the coastal Quảng Ninh Province’s Hạ Long City on Tuesday.

QUẢNG NINH — Three mechanics were killed while installing elevator rails at an apartment complex in the northern coastal province of Quảng Ninh’s Hạ Long City on Tuesday.

The deceased are Huỳnh Giáng Nguyên, 28, a resident of the southern province of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, and Nguyễn Hoài Phong, 18, and Trần Hiếu Nam, 22, both from HCM City.

The three mechanics fell from the seventh floor to the first floor of the elevator shaft of a building in Newlife Tower apartment complex in Bãi Cháy Ward, the province’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said.

Vũ Văn Diện, vice chairman of the province’s People’s Committee, has requested authorities to determine the cause of the accident and visit the families of the three mechanics. A compensation of VNĐ6 million (US$264) has been given to each family.

Work has been suspended at the site for investigation. — VNS
