Update: July, 26/2017 - 09:00

HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam strongly protests the inhuman treatment as well as the use of force or threat to use force against Vietnamese fishermen, the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department said yesterday.

It was responding to reporters’ questions about two fishermen getting injured after their fishing boat was shot at by a vessel of unknown nationality.

Fishing vessel (coded BD 31153 TS) from the south central province of Bình Định reported to functional agencies that it was shot by a ship with unclear code number and nationality on July 22, and two of its crewmen were injured.

The department said concerned agencies are looking into the incident.

It said that fishing vessels docked in Côn Đảo port on July 23 and the injured fishermen were taken to hospital for treatment. — VNS
