Low-pressure system forms near Hoàng Sa

A low-pressure system has formed in the East Sea, around 160km south-southeast of Hoàng Sa (Paracel) Archipelago, at 7am on Friday.

HÀ NỘI — A low-pressure system has formed in the East Sea, around 160km south-southeast of Hoàng Sa (Paracel) Archipelago, at 7am on Friday.

The low-pressure system is moving northwest at 10-15 km per hour and will develop into a tropical low-pressure system in the next 24 hours, as per the latest forecast issued by the National Centre of Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

The system will cause torrential rain and thunderstorms in the central and southern parts of East Sea, including Hoàng Sa Archipelago, the sea from Ninh Thuận to Cà Mau and from Cà Mau to Kiên Giang. — VNS
