QUẢNG NGÃI — The central province will build the first International General Hospital in the central city of Quảng Ngãi with total investment of VNĐ1.1 trillion (US$48.7 million) following a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model.

Director of the provincial health department, Nguyễn Tấn Đức told the Việt Nam News that construction on the 500-bed hospital will start later this month and is expected to be completed in the second quarter next year.

Đức said the hospital, the first of its kind, will provide high-quality health services and treatment for local residents and foreigners working in the province.

He said the introduction of the hospital would help ease overloading at hospitals in central Huế and Đà Nẵng.

In 2012, the province debuted the first private 200-bed Nhân Tâm hospital.

Last year, the province put into operation a medical waste treatment plant with total investment of VNĐ90 billion (nearly $4 million), of which VNĐ62 billion ($2.7 million) was funded by the World Bank.

The province has developed 11 hospitals and 20 heath centres in total. — VNS
