HÀ NỘI — The Transport Corporation Hà Nội (Transerco) on Thursday introduced two bus routes to suburban areas – Nam Thăng Long-Xuân Hòa and Nghĩa Đô Park-Đông Anh – not covered by the service before.

Nguyễn Công Nhật, director of Transerco, said the two routes would connect areas that so far had no bus routes, such as Bắc Hồng and Nguyên Khê communes of Đông Anh District and Minh Trí Commune in Sóc Sơn District.

Bus route No 95, Nam Thăng Long-Xuân Hòa, will connect the Hà Nội Pedagogical University 2 and 12 universities, colleges and residential quarters in Xuân Hòa Town near Sóc Sơn District with Hà Nội. It will start from Nam Thăng Long Bus Station and end at the Hà Nội Pedagogical University 2. The route will see 89 services per day, one service every 20 to 30 minutes. Each bus can transport 60 people, and an one-way ticket will cost VNĐ8,000 (US$0.35).

Bus route No 96, Nghĩa Đô Park-Đông Anh, will start from Nghĩa Đô Park in Cầu Giấy District and end at the Việt Nam-Korea Vocational College in Đông Anh District. It will also have 89 services per day, and one service every 20 to 25 minutes. The journey will cost VNĐ9,000 ($0.4).

Nhật said that as the main organisation in the public transport sector, Transerco will continue to develop its bus routes and improve connectivity. It plans to start 14 more bus routes, and will also run a pilot city tour bus to serve international tourists visiting Hà Nội. In all, the company will operate 200 new buses in the next time, he said.

At the launch ceremony, Transerco said the October 10 Bus Company and Tân Đạt Enterprise will manage and operate route No 95 and No 96.

Transerco also asked all enterprises to be ready with their infrastructure and manpower to start three new bus routes by the end of this month and more routes during the year.

Last year, the Transerco introduced seven routes to suburban districts such as Thạch Thất, Quốc Oai, Xuân Mai and Hòa Lạc. It bought 127 new buses with advanced equipment to improve its services. — VNS
