HCM CITY – Tây Ninh Province police on April 30 busted a drug trafficking ring operating between Cambodia and Việt Nam, arresting three traffickers and seizing 21 kilos of heroin.

Nguyễn Tùng Ánh, 17, of Hải Dương Province, and Phạm Văn Thuận, 24, of Hải Phòng City, were caught illegally transporting 13,031 tablets of heroin, weighing a total of four kilos.

Ánh and Thuận said that they had been hired for VNĐ10 million (US$439) each by a Cambodian man to carry heroin from Svay Rieng Province’s Bavet City to the Mộc Bài International Border Gate.

Later that day, Vietnamese and Cambodian police officers confiscated an additional 17 kilos of heroin, packed in 50 plastic bags at Thiên An Hotel in Bavet City.

Nguyễn Mạnh Tiến, 19, from Quảng Ninh Province’s Đông Triều District, was arrested on May 1 for collaborating with Ánh and Thuận in trafficking drugs to Việt Nam.
