HCM CITY – Ground was broken last Saturday HCM City’s District 2 for a road parallel to the HCM City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây Expressway.

The road on the right of the expressway, will be 20m wide, run 3.4km from the Mai Chí Thọ Road and the Đỗ Xuân Hợp Road, and cost VNĐ808 billion (US$35 million) and take two years to build.

Three bridges with a combined length of 600m will be part of the project.

The new road is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the An Phú roundabout in District 2 and create favourable conditions for the development of the Thủ Thiêm New Urban Area.

The construction will be carried out by the Tiến Phước Real Estate Joint Stock Company and Nam Rạch Chiếc Limited Company under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.

“The road will help complete the infrastructure for the development of District 2, especially the Thủ Thiêm New Urban Area, as well as speed up urbanisation of HCM City,” deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, Lê Văn Khoa, said at the groundbreaking ceremony. – VNS
