Blaze in HCM City’s Kim Biên Street

Fire broke out on Thursday in a five-storey building in HCM City’s Kim Biên Street, dangerously close to the chemical market, but was brought under control after two hours.

HCM CITY — Fire broke out on Thursday in a five-storey building in HCM City’s Kim Biên Street, dangerously close to the chemical market, but was brought under control after two hours.

There were no casualties.

The local fire-fighting department dispatched hundreds of fire-fighters and 15 fire engines to put out the blaze. The fire brought traffic in the area to a standstill.

According to witnesses, the blaze began around 11am on the fourth floor and quickly spread to the fifth floor owing to burning furniture. It caused panic among locals as it was very close to Kim Biên Chemical Market.

Initial investigations suggest that blaze was allegedlly caused by a short circuit. The police are continuing investigations. — VNS
