HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc met yesterday with 10 young people named Việt Nam’s Outstanding Youths, lauding their talent, creativity and desire to contribute to the country and society.

Phúc pledged that the Party, State and Government would make every effort and create optimal conditions for young people to promote their creativity and contribute more to the cause of national construction and defence.

The PM urged the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Fund for Vietnamese Young Talents to continue proposing specific measures to honour and support young talents.

First Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Lê Quốc Phong, said that since the award was launched 21 years ago, 220 young talents had been honoured in various categories, including scientific research, creativity, business and management, security and order, defence, culture and art, sports and social activities.

At the meeting, the young talents also offered suggestions, including integrating startup instruction in schools and more Government support for young people’s research activities. They also asked for assistance in pursuing further education and training abroad.

While highly evaluating the achievements of the awardees, aged 15 to 35, the PM held that attending university is not the only way to success and to contributing to society. He added that disability cannot prevent a person from obtaining outstanding achievements in all fields. – VNS
