HCM CITY –  HCM City’s drug crime investigation sub-department (PC47) has uncovered a drug-trafficking ring operating in Hà Nội and HCM City, police said on Wednesday.

Trịnh Tấn Huy, 37, from HCM City’s District 3 and Vũ Ngọc Cường, 28, from the northern province of Nam Định, were arrested on charges of purchasing and illegal possession of drugs, according to PC47.

PC47 identified that Huy, who was the leader of the ring, often bought a large amount of drugs in Hà Nội and directed Cường to transport the drugs to HCM City by train or bus.

After that, Huy supplied 0.5kg each time to other drug dealers.

City police caught Cường on February 24 while he was carrying 1.8kilos of drugs to Huy’s house. They seized another 200 grammes of methamphetamine and 700 ecstasy tablets at Huy’s house.

The police are continuing their investigation. — VNS
