HCM CITY — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on a visit to the Sài Gòn New Port in HCM City on Monday asked the port to continue to improve its economic and defence mission.

The port, one of the strongest economic units of the Việt Nam People’s Navy, is among the 25 largest and most modern ports in the world.

Praising the achievements the company has made over the years, the PM said the port should become one of the country’s leading defence economic agencies.

Phúc urged the corporation to expand production and focus on strategic positions while continuing to reorganise its affiliates.

The PM also urged the company to improve competitiveness and labour productivity, and ensure stable incomes for workers.

The State-owned Sài Gòn New Port Corporation operates under the one member limited liability company model and focuses on ports, logistics and sea transport.
