Thousands join Hà Nội run for sick children

Thousands of people participated in the Hà Nội Run for Children 2016 in Thống Nhât Park yesterday to raise funds for the treatment of disadvantaged children with cancer and congenital heart diseases.

HÀ NỘI – Thousands of people participated in the Hà Nội Run for Children 2016 in Thống Nhât Park yesterday to raise funds for the treatment of disadvantaged children with cancer and congenital heart diseases. 

The annual event was jointly organised by the Việt Nam-Canada Friendship Association under the Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Embassy of Canada and several political and social organisations and businesses. 

This year’s run saw the participation of celebrities like People’s Artist Lê Khanh, Miss Việt Nam 2016 Đỗ Mỹ Linh, MC and actor Phan Anh, and football player Hong Vu Samson. Weightlifter Lê Văn Công, the first Vietnamese Paralympic gold medallist in Rio 2006, also participated in the event. 

The event raised nearly VNĐ1.3 billion (US$57,700). All the money will be donated to the Việt Nam National Hospital of Paediatrics, Hà Nội Heart Hospital and the Heart Beat Việt Nam programme. — VNS
