Belgian firms seek business opportunities

HCM CITY – Favourable conditions will be created for businesses from the Flanders region in Belgium to make long-term investments in HCM City, a municipal leader said yesterday.

Receiving a business delegation from Flanders, Lê Văn Khoa, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, said the visit would strengthen economic co-operation between the city and Belgian localities.

Led by Belgian ambassador Jehanne Roccas, the delegation included officials overseeing the economy sector and representatives of 27 large companies in the Flemish region.

Khoa said the city welcomed long-term investments in tourism, flood control, waste treatment, public transportation and clean energy, he said.
Ambassador Jehanne Roccas said Belgian companies had confidence in the investment climate of HCM City and were ready to share experiences in urban development, water resources management and waste treatment.

She also said both sides had great potential for co-operation in developing inland waterway transport networks, port infrastructure, and building projects resilient to climate change.
Also yesterday, the Flanders delegation worked with representatives of several departments and sectors of the city, exploring prospects for co-operation in urban development and infrastructure construction. -- VNS
