KIÊN GIANG  A fishing boat with a crew of 10 fishermen on board was rescued from the waters of Phú Quốc yesterday.

A hole was discovered on the boat while it was out catching sea animals off the Phú Quốc coast, some 20 nautical miles from Mũi Hà Tiên. Water entered the boat’s hull and there were fears that the strong waves at the time could capsize the boat.

Colonel Phạm Quang Oánh, commander of Zone 4’s coast guard force of Kiên Giang Province, said after communicating the incident the force sent a boat coded CSB2002 to rescue the fishing boat.

The boat was then pulled to the port of Zone 4’s coast guard force in An Thới Town of Phú Quốc District.

The boat, called Huy Phúc, was captained by Nguyễn Thanh Hùng, living in Kiên Lương Town of southern Kiên Giang Province. — VNS
