HCM CITY — Five organisations and three individuals have received “Red Ribbon” Award for their outstanding community leadership and contribution to Viet Nam’s response.

More than 50 celebrities, including popular musicians, such as Quốc Bảo, Việt Anh, Đức Huy, director Ái Như and singers, such as Ánh Tuyết, Nhật Hạ and Cindy Thái Tài, attended the award ceremony held in HCM City on November 25.

This year, the award themed “Health insurance for people living with HIV" had six categories.

The “Contribution” award category for individuals with outstanding contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS went to Tòng Thu Hà from the northern province of Điện Biên.

Đào Phương Thanh from Hà Nội, received the “Success” award, which is given to people living with HIV/AIDS who succeed in business and make a great contribution to the community.

The “Rise” award for children living HIV with good study performance went to Đinh Hà Vi from Hà Nội.

The winning community-based organisations were G3VN and Glink for their initiatives and leadership to reduce the spread and impact of AIDS in Việt Nam.

Health clinics in Districts 3, 6 and 11 received “Friendly Out-patient Clinic” awards.

Initiated by the Việt Nam National Network of People Living with HIV (VNP+) last year, the award aims to honour people living with HIV/AIDS for their actions to reduce the impact of AIDS and fight discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.

VNP+ was launched in 2009 and represents the combined strength of 126 self-help groups and alliances of people living with HIV across the country and ensures their involvement in the national response to AIDS. - VNS
