HÀ NỘI – Legal proceedings have temporarily seized three people for selling and transporting heroin across many provinces in the country, as well as the capital.

The accused include Ma Tuấn Hùng, 31, from the northern province of Thái Nguyên, Tráng A Trang, 38, from the northern province of Hòa Bình and Sồng Thị Dớ, 40, from the northern province of Sơn La, who the Hà Nội police said were running an inter-provincial ring between Sơn La, Hòa Bình, Thái Nguyên, Hải Phòng and Hà Nội.

Investigations revealed that Hùng asked Trang and Dớ to help him buy heroin worth over VNĐ155 million (US$6,900) per packet; each packet is around 348gm. The accused made an appointment to meet at Thăng Long Boulevard in Hà Nội’s Nam Từ Liêm District, to give and receive heroin.

After keeping an eye on the trio for a long time, the Hà Nội police caught them red-handed on October 29, while they were giving and receiving heroin. Officials confiscated 20 packets of heroin, which were more than 7kg, from Trang’s vehicle.

Earlier, in September, the Nam Từ Liêm district police arrested Nguyễn Đức The, 41, from Sơn La Province, while he was transporting a carton with 6.7kg heroin and 17,000 tablets of ecstasy. – VNS
