Two people killed, 14 injured in bus accident in Quảng Nam

Two people were killed and 14 others injured when a sleeper bus overturned on the Hồ Chí Minh Trail in a section of Quảng Nam Province at around 1.45am yesterday morning.

Quảng Nam — Two people were killed and 14 others injured when a sleeper bus overturned on the Hồ Chí Minh Trail in a section of Quảng Nam Province at around 1.45am yesterday morning.

The provincial traffic police said the bus (with plate number 47B.005.56 from Đắk Lắk), carrying 30 passengers, veered off the road on the way from Kon Tum to Đà Nẵng.

The bus rolled down the embankment in Cà Dy commune in the mountainous Nam Giang district.

Traffic police and rescue forces called on cranes and trucks to help wounded passengers from the wreckage before escorting them to hospital.

Police are still trying to identify those killed in the incident.

It’s the worst traffic accident to have occurred in the province this year.

According to recent reports, there were 129 traffic accidents in the province in the first half this year, killing 85 and injuring 98.

Road traffic accidents accounted for 93 per cent (121 cases) of total accidents this year. — VNS
