HÀ NỘI  Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình has urged forces to investigate the shooting that killed three forest protection staffers in the Tây Nguyên (Central Highland) province of Đắk Nông yesterday morning.

Three staffers from a forest protection team of Long Sơn Limited Company were shot during a conflict with locals at a cultivation land lot in Quảng Trực Commune.

The conflict occurred when the team was using bulldozers to level the land lot. Within an hour, several people had collected at the scene, many of them carrying sticks, knives, machetes and homemade guns.

Three rangers were killed and several others injured when some people fired at them. They were taken to Tuy Đức Hospital for emergency treatment.

Deputy PM Bình requested the Ministry of Public Security and the People’s Committee of the province to direct forces to immediately investigate the case and capture the suspects, as well as identify the criminal purpose and determine if any others were involved.  VNS
