HÀ NỘI — A construction crane collapsed on the roof of a house on the capital’s Thụy Khuê Street last night. No casualties were reported.

The crane, tens of metres in length, fell on the roof of house No. 80 on the opposite site of the street.

The crane belonged to a construction project of a commercial-apartment-parking lot complex at No. 69 on Thụy Khuê Street in Tây Hồ District.

A representative from Hòa Bình Construction & Real Estate Corporation, the contractor of the project, said the incident occurred due to the weak foundation of the ground beneath the crane.

The construction workers were lowering the cane in preparation for an upcoming storm when the incident occurred, he said. Part of the house’s balcony and roof were damaged, he added.

The project’s investor asked the contractor to suspend construction and propose compensation packages for the affected household.  VNS
