Quakes hit Quảng Nam’s mountainous districts

Two earthquakes, measured at 3.1 and 3.4 on the Richter scale, hit the mountainous districts of Tây Giang and Phước Sơn on Saturday morning (October 15).

QUANG NAM — Two earthquakes, measured 3.1 and 3.4 on the Richter scale, hit the mountainous districts of Tây Giang and Phước Sơn on Saturday morning (October 15.

The Hà Nội-based Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Geophysics, said the epicentre of the quakes lay between 10 and 11km.

The centre said the first quake, which occurred around 8.20am on Saturday with 3.1 on the Richter scale, shook Phước Sơn district, while the other quake hit Tây Giang district at 8.30am with 3.4 Richter scale.

No injuries, deathes, and damages to houses have yet reported.

In April, a 3.2 Richter quake also hit Sông Tranh Hydropower Plant No 2 in Bắc Trà My District. — VNS
