HÀ NỘI – Northern provinces will experience heavy rainfall during the National Day (September 2) holiday, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
The capital city of Hà Nội is expected to witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from tonight.
From tomorrow, the weather in the north of Việt Nam will be cooler as the temperature will drop from 36 to 31-33 degrees Celsius.
Whirlwinds may occur, along with heavy rain, in the northern provinces, the centre said.
In addition, there is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in the provinces of Sơn La, Hà Giang, Băc Kạn, Tuyên Quang and Cao Bằng.
People who plan to travel to the northern mountainous provinces during the three-day holiday should reconsider.
The central region is forecast to have a high temperature of between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius, ideal for people to go swimming. Thanh Hóa and Nghệ An provinces will enjoy a lower temperature of 33-34 degrees Celsius.
The temperature in Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) and the southern provinces will be between 22 and 34 degrees Celsius, the centre said. According to the forecast, it will be sunny during the day with scattered showers at night during the holiday. — VNS
